From 20 to 22 August 2024, the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) successfully held its first in-person post-covid seminar, Professional Development Conference 2024 China, in Shanghai. This seminar was a chance for SQA to gather the host institutions of the CSCSE-SQA Advanced Diploma Program across the country with the aim of reflecting on the good practices it has developed and looking ahead to what is new to keep progressing. Therefore, the seminar’s theme was “Looking Back, Moving Forward,” where our college was praised for its good performance and high professionalism in delivering different programs of SQA. Senior lecturer Zhou Qin (Corrine) represented our college to share the valuable teaching experience accumulated in the course Business Fundamentals with Emerging Technologies”.This course, newly added to the program, received high praise from the SQA Qualification Verification Session 2023-24. Ms. Zhou Qin has 20 years of teaching experience and was one of the first batch of business subject teachers for SQA programs in China. At the seminar, Ms. Zhou Qin shared in-depth insights from four dimensions: the core value of the course, the delivery, producing an assessment paper, and reflection & improvements. Ms. Zhou shared with the audience her analytical thoughts about trends in the integration of the course with emerging technologies and demonstrated a keen insight into course development. She then provided detailed introductions to the course teaching and learning methodologies, course team building, department-level work methods related to course quality enhancement, and team culture, sharing valuable experience in course construction and teaching implementation. Ms. Zhou also offered profound insights into the use and development of assessment papers and provided a course summary and reflection, sharing her ideas for further course development and textbook publication.
Ms. Zhou’s insights were highly appreciated by the audience and brought a lot of discussion to enrich the program and share ideas and rich practical teaching experience, setting a teaching role model among her peers and playing a leading role in promoting the high-quality development of the program's teaching.
Given the high teaching standards and professionalism of our college, Zhang Wei, Head of Academic Curriculum Teaching and Research Department, was invited together with Teacher Zhou Qin to participate in the day's summary and Q&A session with the SQA delegation on 21 August. Ms. Zhang Wei was invited to share our college's experience in course co-collaboration across centres and insights on strengthening cooperation with domestic and foreign institutions in the future. Ms. Zhang Wei was approached by many participants and representatives of other Chinese centres during the discussions and was requested formal meetings for further cooperation. Subsequently, Ms.Zhou Qin provided additional explanations on the issues of course construction for Business Fundamentals with Emerging Technologies, which had boosted the participants, to deepen their thinking on how to optimize course structure and assessment practice.
This seminar was a platform for our college’s teachers to learn, share, and exchange from multiple perspectives, strengthening the confidence of all participants in promoting the high-quality development of the CSCSE-SQA Advanced Diploma Program.
On the occasion of our college's 20th anniversary, being praised and invited by the SQA to share teaching experiences will further inspire our teachers to uphold the original intention of education, continue to inherit and develop excellent teaching quality, inject new vitality into the SUFE Overseas Study brand, and set a benchmark in the international education industry. Moving forward, our college will continue to strive to cultivate more internationally excellent talents and work hard to write a new chapter in the high-quality development of overseas education.
